Day 127

With many new species discovered and a comfortable cosy bungalow constructed from the planets natural resources, Vega only begins to adjust to the loneliness that surrounds her. Finding comfort in many of the small creatures that inhabit the alien planet, the loneliness fades away only temporarily. It is when she makes a new discovery or calls in for the night, does Sorins absence linger. No matter how exciting this expedition is, Vega longs for the loving embrace of her late husband every aching minute of her days. Only he knew how to love her body in ways that made her feel like she was floating. He would take his time with her, he knew she was far too precious to rush. He knew that one day he may not have her wrapped around him anymore, so to be close to her was something he would never take for granted.

The alien planet now named Sorin1, had two moons that made the night sky extra bright. The shadows inside Vegas bedroom played tricks on her mind. She would occasionally awake to the silhouette of a tall broad man. This never frightened her as she only ever hoped her sweet gentle Sorin would step out of the darkness, scoop her up in his arms and absorb her once again.

One morning when she was admiring a family of rodents with abnormally large teeth and bulging eyes , she noticed they were circling something in a bush. Curiously she approached the rodents to find a deceased rodent curled up under a flower. Saddened by her discovery she gazed upon the lifeless creature, taking in the depression of the inevitable. Death. The flower hanging above was moist with dew, or nectur. Vega was not sure but the closer she got to it, the sweeter the scent. A scent she had never experienced before. It was like the richest bouquet of roses with undertones of burnt marshmallows, it was almost to overpowering. She watched as a bead of nectar trickled off and splashed onto the deceased rodent. Its skin drank the nectar instantly. Vega found this to be an endearing moment, it was like the flower gave this rodent it’s final kiss goodbye. But then the most remarkable thing happened. The rodent twitched, then twitched some more. Vega watched on with astonishment as this once dead creature took a breath. It’s large eyes opened, sparkling extra bright. This flower delivered life back into the heart of the creature.

This was an incredible discovery! If she collected enough nectar from these flowers, she could return home and bring back Sorin. But how could she? Where was his body? Her obsession with her late husband was so powerful it caused her to keep his body frozen away. This morbid practice she knew no one would understand but it wasn’t for anyone to know. She would often visit his body to kiss his cold lips. She made a vow she would continue his study’s, explore the universe and find something amazing. That flower was her “something amazing”.
