2025-11-09 19:28:09 +0000 UTCI think the thing with Sasuke is that like, logically Sasuke’s state makes sense, but we’ve been no details to feel sympathetic about. The guy spent *three years* with Orochimaru and we have basically no information about what happened to him during that time, no inner dialogue to help us understand the downward spiral he’s been through. We just see this end result where he’s abandoned all emotion except hate and is desperately seeking targets for it because he just don’t know who he IS if not an avenger. And that in itself is understandable, but very very hard to relate to or be interested in watching when there’s no inner conflict we’re shown about it.

2025-10-08 23:48:41 +0000 UTCOkay so like there’s the thing about newly hatched butterflies: you are NOT supposed to help or touch them, because if you do then it can prevent them from developing the muscles they need to properly fly. Butterflies can also take up to a day after hatching to be ready to fly. So…I kind of get how it looked like “Oh Choza’s mad that his son wanted to save a butterfly, but now that Choji’s cool he’s happy” but that’s not what was really happening. Choza is a good dad, but I think he has understandably worried that Choji’s brand of kindness is about his own feelings of sadness or discomfort. And he knows that being a good man and leader means having the strength to be kind even when it’s not easy, even you have to make decisions that cause you pain. Choji might have thought he was helping the butterfly, but it was out of his own anxiousness and discomfort at watching it struggle; he wasn’t thinking about how that struggle is necessary to the butterfly’s ability to survive. And with Asuma, he finally showed that strength.
