Kyo 38

A tense negotiation followed where Kyo eventually traded three red healing potions, a silver coin, and a pair of recently crafted sunglasses. In return she got all the newspapers the bird had been carrying. I’m not sure if I was cheated. Kyo thought watching the News Coo fly away.
As Kyo opened the first paper she found herself drawn in by the elaborate inscription that read, "The End of the Age of Pirates". The nostalgic scent of the black and white inked pages intertwined with the briny tang of the sea air as in the paper's picture a saddened pirate was perched atop the crow's nest of their own ship, the man’s gaze sweeping over the expanse of the Grand Line. A sense of solemnity enveloped Kyo as she began to delve into the words written a month ago.
"This year was not marked by dates or months, but rather the events that rocked the world's foundations. The elusive One Piece was discovered, the Grand Line was vanquished, and the Straw Hat Pirates, often referred to as the Fifth Yonko, emerged triumphant. They accomplished what was deemed impossible, a feat even Roger himself hadn't managed - they brought a new dawn upon the world."
Her heart swelled with emotion as she read further about the new Pirate King’s exploits, their defeats, their victories, and ultimately, their legacy. The Straw Hat Pirates weren't just a crew - they were the embodiment of dreams, of freedom, and of camaraderie. They also had a very cute mascot!
The aftermath of their legendary journey was captivating. The Straw Hat crew chose to part ways after reaching the end of the Grand Line. Their captain, Luffy, had declared, "Our adventures here might have reached their end, but there's a whole world waiting for us. Live the life you desire. Let's cross paths again someday!"
"The enigmatic Im, secret ruler of the World Goverment has vanished without a trace," the second newspaper continued, "Despite rigorous searches conducted by world governments, their whereabouts remain shrouded in mystery. Some believed they had ascended to a higher existence, while others speculated that they simply vanished, leaving the world to the ebb and flow of change."
Kyo was impressed that someone could secretly control the entire world from behind the scenes. They probably had been drawing power from the World Core for centuries!
The third newspaper had a bold print. "The Five Elders, the covert rulers of the World Government under Im, were overthrown. Their defeat led to the disintegration of the marionette strings that had controlled the world order for so long. Their downfall was the dawn of an era of transparency and justice." A picture of the upper echelons of the Marines were shown surrounding five defeated individuals. Kyo’s eyes were drawn to the man in a red suit with an arm made of lava!
“This world is fascinating.” Kyo murmured as she picked up the fourth newspaper to read. "The Celestial Dragons, the self-proclaimed gods of the world, were unveiled for their horrific crimes against humanity. Their deceitful acts were brought to light for all to see, sparking a wave of revolution and defiance. Their reign of terror had reached its end." A group of gaudy looking individuals were being escorted in chains onto a prison ship in the picture.
Closing the newspaper, a soft smile graced Kyo's lips. The current era had just concluded. The Age of Pirates was no more, but in its place, a new world was born - one of freedom, justice, and dreams. At least that was what the newspapers appeared to be selling.
The legacy of the pirate crew of the Straw Hats resonated through the world, kindling the spirits of countless individuals to pursue their dreams. They weren't just pirates; they were pioneers, dreamers, and pathfinders who dared to challenge the world for their beliefs. They encapsulated the true spirit of an adventurer, proving that dreams were more than whimsical notions, but the beacon guiding towards a world where the impossible could become reality.
As the sun descended, bathing the world in a warm, orange hue, Kyo could almost hear the echoes of Luffy's hearty laughter emanating from his newspaper pictures, carried on the wings of the wind from a time long past. With a renewed sense of determination, she decided it was time to leave the island. However, first she had to sleep on the revelations of the marvelous newspapers!
The following day began like any other for Kyo, with the morning sunlight filtering through the tiny window of her alchemical laboratory, bouncing off the shimmering vials and the polished glass instruments. But today, there was an unmistakable, almost electrifying energy in the air that made her senses tingle in anticipation.
Kyo had read the newspapers again and learned of fantastical flying ships that sailed the skies of the Grand Line, a mystical strip of sea known for its inexplicable phenomena and mysterious, treasure-filled islands. She had dismissed these tales as mere exaggerations until now.
Yet her dismissal had shifted abruptly. As Kyo had walked outside in the early morning of the current day, she saw the figure of a large vessel emerging from a cluster of clouds. It was gigantic, and yet it moved through the air with a grace that belied its size. The sight was mesmerizing. Flying ships! The fabled vessels of the Grand Line were real!
The ship was like nothing Kyo had ever seen before. Huge sails billowed in the wind, made of what seemed like a translucent, shimmering material, glowing as the sun's rays passed through them. The ship’s hull was adorned with intricate carvings that glistened with a metallic sheen, radiating an otherworldly energy. It hovered, defying gravity, the laws of nature being bent to the will of its creators.
Kyo’s heart throbbed with exhilaration. Her gaze was locked onto the ship, her mind alive with wonder and curiosity. The alchemist in her craved understanding - how did it stay aloft? What kind of energy propelled it? Could she replicate it?
She remembered her mentor, Kudzu, and his words, "Alchemy is the science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. There must always be an equivalent exchange. Unless you are powerful enough to circumvent that most basic rule, like me."
An equivalent exchange. It was the fundamental principle that every alchemist lived by, and now, Kyo was ready to put it to the test. The science of alchemy had brought about many wonders, but a flying ship? That was uncharted territory.
A sense of determination welled up inside her. She knew that the challenge would be immense, that the path would be fraught with trials and tribulations. But she also knew that she had the knowledge and the resolve to conquer them.
"I will do this," Kyo whispered to herself, her voice filled with conviction. "I will understand the secrets of these flying ships, and I will create one. For alchemy is not just the pursuit of knowledge, it is the pursuit of possibilities. Along with money. Lots and lots of money!"
The sight of the flying ship sailing across the clear blue sky, a symbol of the mysteries of the Grand Line, only solidified her resolve. It wasn't just the promise of a groundbreaking discovery or the potential glory that tempted her. It was the pursuit of the unknown, the chance to push the boundaries of alchemy and challenge the perceived limits of reality.
In that moment, Kyo knew she was embarking on her greatest journey yet. A journey that would test the depths of her alchemical knowledge, her creativity, and her resolve. She had seen a glimpse of the future, and she was ready to chase it. The Grand Line and its sky-borne vessels had sparked a fire in her heart, and she knew, deep within her, nothing could quench this burning desire. She was determined to create a flying ship with her alchemy, come what may.
There weren’t a lot of materials to work with on the island, but Kyo already had a few concepts bubbling in her head!

Interesting. I was honestly dreading Kyo interacting with the StrawHats. But nope.
