Harry Potter : Eldritch Horrors Chapter 9

Chapter 9 : The Revelation

The attic room in London's Old Town felt smaller than usual as Adam carefully spread his research materials across the rough wooden floor.

Adam picked up his quill to add final revisions to his first sermon when a sharp tapping sound interrupted his concentration. He looked up to see a mottled owl perched outside his skylight, a letter clutched in its beak. The bird tapped the glass three times like a human.

"Knock, knock, knock!"

Adam set down his quill and stared at the owl. In five years of living rough in London, he'd never had mail delivered to any of his temporary shelters. The sight was so unexpected that for a moment he wondered if exhaustion from his intensive preparation was causing hallucinations.

"Could it be..." Adam felt his pulse quicken as an impossible possibility struck him. He grabbed the iron rod he used to open the skylight and pushed the window open.

The mottled owl flew in slowly, placed the letter on Adam's makeshift desk among his cult documentation, and began preening its feathers.

Adam lifted the envelope with trembling fingers. It bore a red wax seal stamped with an unfamiliar coat of arms—a shield surrounded by four animals he couldn't immediately identify. The address was written in emerald green ink: "Mr. A. Wright, The Attic Room, 47 Bermondsey Street, London SE1."

Adam used a paper knife to cut through the seal without damaging the wax impression.

He unfolded the parchment and read the full letter:

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICKS.

Albus Dumbledore. He knew that name, knew it from stories he'd read in another life, in another world, before laboratory explosions and cosmic horror libraries and five years of survival on London's streets.

The room seemed to tilt around him as fragments of half-remembered fiction clicked into place like pieces of a puzzle. Harry Potter. Hogwarts. The wizarding world.

But that was impossible. Those were pure fiction, fantasy novels written by an author named... he struggled to remember... Rowling. J.K. Rowling. They couldn't be real. They were supposed to be make-believe, children's books about a boy wizard and his adventures at a magical school.

Adam read the letter three more times, each reading making the situation more surreal. If this was genuine—if Hogwarts was real—then everything he'd assumed about his situation was wrong. He wasn't in some parallel dimension influenced by Cthulhu mythos. He was in the Harry Potter universe, a fictional world that had somehow become his reality.

The implications were staggering. If this was truly the Harry Potter universe, then somewhere in London, an eleven-year-old boy named Harry Potter was probably receiving his own Hogwarts letter. The Boy Who Lived, the Chosen One, the protagonist around whom this entire reality was supposed to revolve.

But how did that reconcile with everything he'd experienced? The cosmic horror elements, Merlin's ancient library, the Great Race of Yith, the eldritch entities that whispered at the edges of his consciousness—none of that belonged in the magical world described in the stories he remembered.

Adam looked at the owl, which was still preening itself without any care in the world. The bird's presence was real enough, and the letter felt authentic in his hands.

"This can't be happening," he muttered, but even as he spoke the words, part of his mind was already accepting it. The letter explained so much.

If the Harry Potter universe was real, then his transmigration into this world made a different kind of sense. Perhaps his cosmic horror experiences had been real but atypical—dangerous magic that existed alongside the more 'normal' wizardry practiced by the mainstream magical community.

Adam pulled out a sheet of parchment and began composing his reply, his cult plans suddenly seeming far less important than understanding this new 'safer' development:

"Dear Professor Dumbledore,

I am honored to be accepted to study magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

However, I must confess that I know no one around me who has studied magic, and although I deeply yearn for it, I've never encountered the wizarding world directly. Therefore, I have no idea how to prepare the items on the supply list, nor do I know how to reach Hogwarts.

If it would be possible—if it would be convenient—could a faculty member perhaps introduce me to the magical world? I am currently living independently in London and would be most grateful for guidance.

Respectfully,

Adam Wright"

He folded the letter carefully, his mind racing with possibilities and implications.

The Church of Cosmic Grace could wait. If he was truly in the Harry Potter universe, then everything—his magical education, his survival strategies, his long-term plans—would need to be completely reconsidered.

Adam offered the letter to the owl, which looked at him with what seemed like mild disapproval before taking the parchment in its beak.

The bird flew back through the open skylight quietly, leaving Adam alone with his revolutionary new understanding of his situation.

As the owl disappeared into the London sky, Adam began gathering up his cult documentation. The carefully crafted scriptures and theological frameworks that had consumed months of his time suddenly seemed like some elaborate fiction compared to the reality he was now facing.

The Harry Potter universe. If his memories were accurate, this world contained its own dark wizards, ancient magic, and threats—but they operated according to different rules than the eldritch horrors he'd been studying.

This was a world where magic had structure, where knowledge was taught in schools rather than discovered in impossible libraries, where power came easily with no madness.

Adam Wright, the would-be cult leader and student of forbidden knowledge, would need to become Adam Wright, the Hogwarts student. For the first time in years, he felt something optimistic about his future.

Comments

Nahh dude. Just not enough time for both. I got very busy recently. Translating was okay but changing the plot takes time. And the story got boring further I read it. So..

Lord_Meph1sto

You still thinking of continuing on with this story?

Didn’t see Harry Potter coming does make sense though
