Weekly update & RtS5 Q&A!

Hey guys! I hope you don't mind these small updates, but I like the transparency of sharing my schedule so you know whether to wait for a new page or to wait a bit more for them.

This Thursday I have a pretty important college presentation. In fact, it's one of those "Ok, if you do well on this, you can consider yourself an architect already", even though I still need to take some classes next year.

This month has been a bit slow because of it, but this week I'm dedicating every hour I have to work on it, as you'd expect. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be so relieved after that presentation that I'll want to draw the next comic page as soon as possible.

So I'm looking at Saturday as a likely date for the new page release. And I might start posting the first requests on Sunday.

It's still too early to say, but October should be a more relaxed month. I should be able to get a couple more pages out then, and even open commissions (which I thought I'd do this month, but I didn't).

That's it for the update. However, I'd like to give you guys something fun instead of nothing for this week, so I think a good, old-fashioned Q&A might be cool!

Ask me ANYTHING about the comic, and I'll give you as full of an answer as possible without spoiling future events.

Comments

Not sure if it’s too late to ask more questions, but, have you considered making loud house comics that aren’t really relationship oriented? I love your depiction of Lily, so maybe her having her own stories on occasions could be nice.

Xay

Of course, that's what this Q&A was for!

UnderratedHero

As I mentioned, I won't speak about anything that could potentially spoil the story. Either a "yes" or "no" would spoil the scene we're currently at.

UnderratedHero

I’m excited for what you will see on the DM.

In all honesty, I thought more people would've asked something along the lines of question #5. But also, in all honesty, that's the answer I expected Hero to give me. Having read some of his fan fiction already, I know he doesn't normally venture into mature territory. I mean, there was that one story, "A Good Loser," but that was just done on a dare. But nothing ventured, nothing gained: Hero did say "Ask me ANYTHING about the comic..." And being a big Lynncoln fan myself, I just needed to satisfy my curiosity. But I still appreciate you answering my question nonetheless, Hero!

My thought process when I asked question #3 involved recalling Clyde’s obsession with Lori. I’m sure on no uncertain terms Lori let it be known to Clyde that they were never going to be a couple. And I’m also sure that Lincoln probably had to step in at certain times and tell his best friend to move on from his oldest sister – “You don’t have a snowball’s chance, buddy,” for example. But once Clyde finds out, I kind of imagine he might try to take the high moral ground and call Lincoln out for his “supposed” hypocrisy – “You used to give me flak for trying to get together with Lori, but yet here you are dating your older sister Lynn. That’s like the pot calling the kettle black!” Again, possible response. I feel like this question had a more cohesive, structured argument in my head before I put it to paper, but that was my take on the whole thing between Lincoln and Clyde and their potential falling out over this.

I.O. Penner

That’s what I was thinking

Double Gron

That's what I think, too. UnderratedHero won't draw the sex itself, but he may draw an after-scene where you get it. You know what they did.

Paul Hoon

Would Lincoln and Lynn be separated after this? Like one stays at Aunt Ruth's house or something? And would the parents put in extreme measures to handle this? Like therapy. A punishment? I'm not sure

C.E. Zim93

Interesting. I thought so

C.E. Zim93

I guess Lisa and Lucy already know about Lincoln and Lynn's relationship.

Blazzore

I think Rewrite the stars will end with an adult Lincoln and Lynn laying down on a hill to look at the stars.

Blazzore

5. I'm not gonna draw anything *explicit* in the comic. And that's all I'll say about it lol

UnderratedHero

4. Mostly dialogues. When I write fanfic, I can have a character's inner monologue or play with pauses and small body language or micro-expressions, and I have a basically unlimited number of words to use. In the comic, I need to make every word count, make it succinct and eloquent while staying in the character's voice, and due to panel distribution and stuff, I need to pick something that can work in English and Spanish. I had sooo much trouble writing and rewriting the campfire scene in the previous comic. I wanted Lynn to say some words that Lincoln (and Lucy) could interpret like she's talking about her giving up on her crush on Lincoln for her family's sake, when in reality she was talking about how she gave up her sports career to stay close to him. I'm not even sure I managed to make it work in the end, but I tried my best.

UnderratedHero

3. I don't really see how Clyde's crush on Lori would change the reception of Lincoln dating Lynn. "Dude, she's your sister!" "And? You also had a crush on my sister!" lol But naturally, should it become public that they're in love, I think all their loved ones (family, friends) would have quite a lot to say, and I don't think they'd probably look at them the same way.

UnderratedHero

2. In the second issue of the comic, I wanted to recontextualize all those screenshots and canon interactions that I, as a Lynncoln fan, always appreciate for giving me fuel to apply my headcanons and make it a part of a bigger narrative. I needed a "this is when they both realized it" moment, and I thought them basically cuddling in public could've been a cute moment. It's not like I thought it'd be the best thing since sliced bread, but I thought making it a big deal in my comic could help turn that episode/moment into a Lynncoln milestone for the fandom.

UnderratedHero

Well I think their siblings will be very mad, upset and somewhat betrayed. They’ve definitely screw up their own family I’m sure.

Double Gron

1. I found a significant amount of Lynncoln fanfics (not enough IMO), but barely any comics, outside of some NSFW ones. I thought a long Lynncoln story in a comic-format was needed.

UnderratedHero

I don't know what dafuq is but thank you!

UnderratedHero

We're in the middle of a confrontation with the parents, so I think you'll soon see about the rest of the family.

UnderratedHero

No, she had her role and played an important part in teaching us about Lincoln's character. I don't see why she would ever return.

UnderratedHero

1. They have so far 2. I'm staying away from Twitter until I finish all my responsibilities. I'll check it out on the weekend.

UnderratedHero

Unlikely lol I spent a lot of time talking with different people regarding the ages and possible graduation time for all the sisters (I'm not familiar with the American educational system), and there are some inconsistencies in the show that make it hard to really to keep it faithful. So I just took the executive decision to make Lynn graduate one year after Luan, since she's just one year younger.

UnderratedHero

Some already do

UnderratedHero

Thank you very much!

UnderratedHero

For question 5, I think it’s going to lead up to that. Because at the beginning of the first comic, Lincoln and Lynn are reflecting on the past and possibly looking at the stars because what we see. So maybe at that point it’s after they made love. Maybe that’s where the story will end. Who knows? Maybe UnderratedHero will do an epilogue of Lincoln and Lynn marrying in secret and having a kid.

Paul Hoon

Good luck to you on Thursday, Hero! If all the effort you’ve put into “Rewrite the Stars” is any indication, I have no doubt you’ll do the same with your presentation. Since you’re hosting this Q & A, here are some questions I would like to pose: 1. What inspired you to portray “Rewrite the Stars” as a comic rather than as fan fiction? 2. What went through your mind when you decided to have “On Thin Ice” be the episode where Lincoln and Lynn realize and acknowledge their feelings? 3. Do you think Lincoln’s relationship with Lynn will drive a wedge between Lincoln and Clyde, taking into account Clyde’s previous fixation on Lori? 4. Were there any particular scenes in any volume that you found hard to portray, or had to rewrite a number of times? 5. Will there be a scene in the comic where Lincoln and Lynn eventually make love?

I.O. Penner

Well, if I have waited for the episodes of dafuq every 3 selanas because I couldn't wait for this fantastic comic

José Ángel Romero Rosales

Will anymore Loud family members or their friends find out about Lynncoln? (Albert, Myrtle, Sam, Bobby or Ronnie Anne for example)

Hootsifer

Will Lincoln's ex-girlfriend (Dani) come back?

Blazzore

I hope that goes well. I have two questions. 1. Will Lincoln and Lynn find a way to be together? 2. Can you check your DM on twitter? There’s something pretty cool for you to see.

Paul Hoon

Is Lynn going to graduate as a junior or senior? In the series, Lynn is two grades below luan. it’s possible that she was called up a grade with her intelligence.

Xay

Will any of the sisters will know about Lincoln and Lynn's relationship?

C.E. Zim93

Like I said man no pressure. Just do what you need to do and good luck on that presentation.
