I liked having the court case narrated by Nicola. it makes it a lot easier to over look any inconsistencies if how we think a court case should run. a good example is the differences in how a court room runs in Canada, vs Britten vs USA etc. I think it was a brilliant idea using a child to describe what happened in the court room so you you can tell the story with out having people complaining because some this did not happen in the proper order or even at all.
