2026-01-15 23:54:47 +0000 UTC37:38 In this scene where aragorn kicks the helmet out of frustration one of the prop guys made a mistake and put a real metal helmet on the ground instead of a soft rubber helmet. In doing so when Viggo Mortensen kicked the helmet he actually broke his toe. His reaction to kicking the helmet was 100% real.

Many of the places that were actually built for the film are still there, like Bilbo's & Frodo's home & village in The Shire and Edoras, the capital of Rohan (the city on the hill in this film), and people can still visit. Some places, like The Shire, are also available for events, like weddings.
