This was an interesting movie, and I completely agree with others regarding Biss's approach and her immersion in any film she reacts to, particularly those with mystery and analytical storylines; she is a joy to watch.
As for the film itself, while I appreciate the acting and performances of the cast, I found the movie too long and drawn-out, especially given that we have intelligent characters who miss obvious clues. You can sense Biss's frustration in a couple of scenes as well.
Additionally, there are numerous loose ends, particularly concerning the fate of both fathers after they apparently torture a man to death. I understand that their actions stem from passion and grief, but it seems unrealistic that they would walk away from it all. It almost feels like the writers had something interesting to contribute to the film's emotional depth, but lost their way and couldn’t find a satisfying resolution for the characters and the path they had taken.
Biss.. 5 stars :) The Prisoners.. 4.2 :P

I'm glad Detective Biss liked this one. It's got lots to tickle the brain.
Great reaction, Biss, thanx.

Hi Bisscute 😊 from San Antonio Texas USA 😊 Wonderful reaction and analysis and commentary 😊👍 You start off with the Christmas theme and the Halloween top. This is why you are so delightful and shows me that you want what you want... very refreshing and yes very cool.
To me, the basic theme of this movie parallels John Q in that we have two very religious men take matters in their own hands to justify their actions to get the results that they want. In the end both have a happy ending for the children even though both will go to jail for violating the law. You are right in your synopsis of the director's logic. Will the detective find him in time? Well the detective piece together the fact that Anna received a new whistle and that the whistle he hears is the old one and investigate? or is he so disgusted with him that he just lets him be. For me this speaks of a decision...man's Justice or God's justice. For me, I would finish the story having on the father be rescued and serve time in jail.
Alex's quote to the father of "they cried when I left them" implies that the girls had a playmate as Alex was mentally their age. Which means Alex is completely innocent of everything. The father's overzealousness got the best of him. To me, the use of religion to justify any action is abhorred... To kill a deer or to become a vigilante. Thankfully Joy's parents knew this was wrong and would not participate in the torturing of Alex.
I truly enjoyed your two quotes.... Eastern European sage that you are...
"When you run from the devil you run into the devil's mother"
"Evil can be disguised as anything and anyone"
Loki was frustrated because his Superior would not hold Alex more than 48 hours which is the law unless you can charge that person with something and in this case there was nothing to charge Alex with.
Loki was questioning the father about the quote from Alex "they cried when I left them" as there has to be two witnesses. That's why he asked the father did anyone else hear what Alex said otherwise it's hearsay and not admissible in court.
Yes, there is a law protecting spouses and their confidential discussions that they have with each other. And yes, they cannot be called upon to testify against the other... This Is not admissible in court.
Absolutely, the detective did his job. He did lose his cool in the interrogation room with the son of the man who killed 16 people and was subsequently killed by the priest. Loki was not reprimanded by his action because the person was deemed to be incompetent.
You're exactly correct in your analysis of as humans circumstances sometimes cause us to be pushed to the brink where we cross the line between civility and lawlessness. As I said in the beginning, this parallels John Q and that we have a character who is ultra religious and in order to get what he wants he crosses the line and will have to face the consequences when he is rescued from that hole underneath the car. He just has to keep blowing that whistle so he can be found.
Thank you so very much for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye-bye 😊👍💪❤️

I wasn't going to watch this. I read the synopsis on IMDB and it didn't seem like the type of movie I would enjoy. But then I found myself with a few hours to kill and decided that I would watch just to spend some time with Miss Biss. When all was said and done with the movie I was torn. I didn't really care for the movie itself, but Biss was magnificent. Prior to writing this, I was searching my mind for one word that I could use to describe her. I settled on professional. Miss Biss takes her responsibility to her audience as seriously as any reactor that has plied the trade. She is the epitome of what a reactor should project. She is a "Professional Reactor".
