Hi Bisscute 😊 from San Antonio Texas USA 😊 The fighting style featured in The Raid movies is the Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat. The films helped to popularize this brutal, full-body style, which incorporates joint manipulation, grappling, throws, and powerful strikes, with both Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian leading the fight choreography. A diverse fighting style: Pencak Silat is an umbrella term for a family of martial arts, and the movies showcase various styles within it. The choreography often involves a combination of hand-to-hand combat, joint manipulation, and weapon use, such as knives. Brutal and efficient: The style is characterized by its effectiveness, which is why it is often described as brutal and fast-paced. The choreography emphasizes quick, powerful movements to quickly and efficiently incapacitate an opponent. Authenticity: The lead actor, Iko Uwais, has practiced Pencak Silat since he was a child, and the choreography was developed in collaboration with him and Yayan Ruhian, another martial artist and Pencak Silat instructor. Here is a write up on Iko Uwais... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iko_Uwais A curved knife can be called a karambit, kukri, mezzaluna, or scimitar, among other names, depending on its specific shape, origin, and purpose. For example, a karambit is a small Southeast Asian knife with a curved in blade and a finger hole, while a kukri is a Nepalese knife with a distinct recurve, and a mezzaluna is a kitchen tool with two handles for chopping. --Karambit: A small, curved knife originating from Southeast Asia, often featuring a finger hole for close-quarters combat and defense. --Kukri: A Nepalese knife or short sword with a distinctive recurve blade, used as both a tool and a weapon. --Mezzaluna: An Italian term for a kitchen tool with one or more curved blades and two handles, used for chopping ingredients by rocking it back and for theth. --Scimitar: A type of sword characterized by its short, curved blade. --Tourné knife: A small paring knife with a curved, downward-pointing blade, also called a "bird's beak" knife. --Hook knife: A knife with a curved, hook-like blade used for carving out concave shapes, such as in spoon making. --Kris: A type of dagger, sometimes with a wavy blade, originating from Indonesia. Thank you for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye-bye 😊👍💪❤️

2025-11-28 17:07:47 +0000 UTCI actually find this film an improvement over the original, thanks to its inclusion of a storyline; however, it is sometimes muddled. Just as brutal as the original film, and I know there is an audience for this style, but I loathe the 10-minute drawn-out one-on-one fight sequences... Especially for a 2-hour 20-minute movie, I get to the point where I'm saying out loud, "Let's get this over with already." That being said, I'm always happy to watch anything Biss reacts to... She's the epitome of awesome. 😊
