Thank you very much for your reaction Biss. The scenery and atmosphere in this film are truly special and offer a glimpse into a bygone era that had both good and bad aspects. People definitely dressed with more style back then, but the portrayal of women was appalling and, fortunately, things are different today. To be fair: Grace Kelly here portrays a self-confident and intelligent female character, which unfortunately is not the case in many films from this period. As far as Hitchcock's films are concerned, I would say that he made better and more exciting films. I would recommend Rope, Rear Window or Vertigo. But all in all, To Catch a Thief makes you want to go to Nice, dine elegantly in a beach café overlooking the harbour and wear an outrageously good-looking suit. :)
