Hi Bisscute 😊 from San Antonio Texas USA 😊 Wonderful reaction and a very heartfelt outro. First things first, you recognized the actor who played Chief Gus Monroe is Ray Liotta play in the movie Goodfellas and you reacted to that movie posted to YouTube on February 14th 2024. He also played in the movie Field of Dreams playing "Shoeless Joe Jackson"... This is a great sports movie starring Kevin Costner (1989). I completely agree with you that the least that the medical community can do (and that includes the insurance companies) is provide healthcare for children. Basic premise of this movie was the focus on the faith of John relying on the Lord to perform a miracle that his son would live but it seems to have turned into a twisted commentary on the state of the American Medical System. The Script for this movie was written in 1993 when Hillary Clinton was tasked with the project of providing affordable healthcare for every American citizen and was dubbed the name Hillary Care. She's the one in the clip talking about 40% uninsured. Those 40% represent young people who choose to not have insurance. When the project was exposed for what it really was... Basically in cross between the British healthcare system and the Canadian healthcare system ...the medical community rejected it and put pressure on Congress to not pass the bill that would have provided Hillary Care throughout the United States. With the election of Barack Obama in 2008, there was another attempt to have affordable health care for every American citizen and this time in the project was named Obamacare. This time there were enough votes in the Congress to pass the bill and it was signed into law and it remained in effect until Donald Trump was elected in 2016. That's the history of the attempt to what is called socialize Medical Care in the United States whereby working American citizens contribute into the system and if you don't you're penalized. I'm going to tell you that Americans are not going to stand by and pay 90% tax in order to have everyone have health care in this country. This movie plays fast and loose with the heart strings of American citizens trying to demonize the medical community and the association with the insurance companies as they do indeed go hand in hand. Having worked in the medical community and in human resources I'm going to tell you that there is no way that John's company did not bring him in and have new paperwork when they switched insurance companies. It's just not done so this scene where John is completely surprised is completely false. The HR person would have explained the situation to John, since hours at work were reduced, and consider all options in order to keep his son covered. In a worst case scenario, John would have had to opt for private insurance and probably have to get a second job in order to pay the monthly premiums. Again a company is not going to surprise an employee with an insurance change so again this is false. I agree with you sometimes there needs to be a shock to the system in order for there to be a change. Here's a brief write-up on the intention of the movie... "The original idea for the movie John Q stemmed from real-life incidents and personal experience, particularly a true story of a Canadian man who took a hospital hostage after being denied care for his child, and director Nick Cassavetes's personal connection to the issue of a child with a serious health condition, as inspired by his own daughter, Sasha Cassavetes. The core idea centers on a desperate father's struggle with the healthcare and insurance system to get life-saving treatment for his son." Real-Life Inspiration  Henry Masuka Incident: The film's premise is similar to a true event in Toronto, Canada, where a man, Henry Masuka, took an emergency room hostage on New Year's Eve 1999 because his infant son wasn't getting immediate care. He was later shot and killed by police, though he was carrying an unloaded pellet gun. Personal Connection  Director Nick Cassavetes: The film was also deeply personal for director Nick Cassavetes. His own daughter, Sasha, was born with a congenital heart defect, which inspired the film's dedication "For Sasha" and its emotional core. Key Themes and Message  Healthcare & Insurance System: The film highlights the struggles faced by families when dealing with the limitations of health insurance and the high cost of necessary medical care. Parental Love and Desperation: John Q explores themes of extreme parental love and the lengths a parent will go to for their child. Moral Dilemmas: The story presents the moral complexities and difficult choices faced when a person's life is at stake due to financial barriers. I can see the level of frustration you have coming from a system in Europe and not truly understanding the system in the United States however I again do agree with you we should protect the children in the case of Medical Care... on this we can agree. I'm hoping that the person who suggested this movie for you to react to noticed that you are a fan of Denzel Washington. Thank you for all your hard work and I appreciate you so very much. Have a great day and God bless you with much love and prayers for strength and good health bye-bye 😊👍💪❤️🙏🤲🕯️💐🌱🌼🌺🌸🏵️🌻🌿🍃
