As other patrons have mentioned in reference to the 1939 wizard of Oz with Judy Garland, that story is basically Dorothy's adventures in Oz trying to get back to her home in Kansas. This is a beautiful prequel as to that story and I echo the fact that you should see part one and part 2 of this movie before watching the 1939 movie. Oz is perfectly portrayed in this movie Wicked as a Humbug. He understands well human nature and knows how gullible people are. He uses people to get what he wants by giving them what they want mostly to be happy. Elphaba understands who he really is and this is a threat to him as he wants to continue his power over the people. And, we learn how Elphaba becomes known as the Wicked Witch of the West. It will be interesting to see part 2 as the story unfolds. As far as your reaction, you completely understand and that's part of enjoying watching. They're definitely is a deeper meaning behind the story that goes into philosophy, sociology, and The human condition. You're mentioning about doing a possible music reaction with Cynthia Evrio. 2025-01-20 19:31:33 +0000 UTCI don't believe it is necessary to see the original Wizard of Oz before seeing Wicked, being as it is supposed to be a prequel of sorts. Having not seen this yet, I'm hoping it will be a fun watch. Hopefully Biss will like it enough to want to see the original 1939 movie.
