2024-10-28 23:30:57 +0000 UTCI've noticed a lot of reactors have the same lukewarm or indifferent reaction to Halloween, and I have to agree. Yes, it's an iconic and very influential movie, but it's also very much of its time (i.e. dated). Most of the acting isn't very good, and anyone who has watched horror movies in the last 30 years has seen all the plot points and scares before (because this film influenced those modern horror films), so it doesn't have the same impact on a modern viewer. I can see how this movie would be amazing for someone in 1978, because they hadn't been anything quite like it before, but nowadays it comes across pretty cheesy in some ways because newer horror movies have done this same kind of movie far better.
