Of course Mal shouldn’t say the things he does sometimes to Inara but he loves her and it upsets him that she gives herself to men who care nothing for her. And let’s face it, he is a rough and tumble guy without much social grace. But he would gladly give his life for Inara, or indeed any of his crew. Not an excuse, just an explanation. I love the Mal character, precisely because his flaws make him very human while his virtues are plainly evident. And Nathan plays him perfectly. I’ve watched him and loved him in Castle and The Rookie but Mal is still my favorite.

2024-03-28 07:32:09 +0000 UTCI knew about Firefly when the movie was announced for cinemas in my country, a long time after the debacle. So I watched the series and then went to see the movie. Loved them both. I remember that at the end of the series I liked Mal a lot. After rewatching this four episodes with your reactions (it's been a lot of years since I watched it for the last time), I have to say that I'm not liking the series as much as I remembered. About Nathan Fillion, the actor that plays Mal, I like him a lot. I've seen him in a lot of movies, series and videogames (as voice actor) since then. Probably his most important roles are the main character in the series Castle and now, in The Rookie.
