Max is a broken man. Driven mad by the collapse of civilization and the brutal end of his family and those he loved. In the opening he is stripped of everything except one instinct, and that is to survive. By the end he has regained much of his humanity but he had willingly left civilization, disillusioned by it and he does not want to come back. That's why he does not join the rebuilding. He has not completed his walkabout and he is not done with the wasteland, yet. He still searches for that elusive thing. "If you can't fix what's broken, you'll go insane." Max told Furiosa. He is telling her that "hope is a mistake." We cannot find salvation elsewhere until we fix what is broken at home. To hope that something out there is what we need but in the end we might just end up where we started. Hope is actually where you started. Maybe we fix home first... and then we can leave and our footsteps will feel much lighter.

Here you see the "end" of civilization and what's left of it. Of how nature takes back what it has given and the brutality of man vs man... And yet nature is so much more majestic and even more brutal. We see the sandstorm and it represents the fury of nature. The left over of mans' ambitions, the ragged few still clinging to life and refuses to be thrown. Or actually this is when the ambitions of man has been long gone. "Who killed the world?" Indeed. This is the story of us, of how we would crawl back from the brink of annihilation. Or at least some of us.

2023-12-19 04:15:10 +0000 UTCThis is "peak action movie" as far as I'm concerned. It was meticulously planned out, brilliantly executed, and contains fantastic action sequences, set pieces, characters, and an actual emotional dramatic storyline as a backbone. I had the luxury of watching this blind (I had watched the previous MM movies as a teenager, but was disinterested in the franchise after watching other Hollywood sequels/reboots) in a cinema in 2015 when it was released, and I sat wide-eyed shocked throughout the entire experience. Been a favorite movie of mine ever since!

2023-12-09 22:11:16 +0000 UTCWhen this movie came out it was in 3d. The effects were very impressive. I still think the original Mad Max 2 Road Warrior with Mel Gibson was a much better movie, in my opinion. It explains a lot more, especially if you watch the first one. Also has one of the most iconic chase scenes in movie history. I am curious to see Furiosoa though. I'll give this a 4 out of 5 just for the effects. Finally I'm not sure Furry Road is a movie we should be watching on your patreon.

2023-12-09 21:57:49 +0000 UTCBiss, excellent reaction, as usual. I thought you might be interested to know. the girl who played Furiosa in this movie is Charlize Theron, who was Stella from "The Italian Job", which you recently reacted to. Not terribly surprised you didn't make the connection, most people don't unless they are specifically fans of her. She has a long collection of diverse roles in various movies. I'm sure you'll come across her again if you keep at this. From my experience she is pretty selective and hasn't really appeared in any really bad movies. My personal favorite of hers is "Sweet November" alongside Keanu Reeves. I suspect you might appreciate the movie "Hancock" with her and Will Smith, at least more than most did.
