Awww I completely empathize with Cate. I think people are too hard on her. She was absolutely traumatized by accidentally making her brother dissappear.. IMMEDIATELY after that, not given any opportunity to grieve or heal from the trauma, her parents lock her away in her room for 10 years. A prisoner hated and feared every day by the ones who are supposed to love her. Then a Woman comes, when she's still a vulnerable teen and for the first time since the day her brother vanished she's shown a measure of compassion and understanding. Everything she did following was done under the geniune belief that she was helping her friends, she was completely groomed and manipulated. :(
