I may have my issues with the OPLA, but man did they do Mihawk right! This actor nails the quiet, earned, elegant arrogance that exudes from Mihawk. The way he talks, the way he moves, the little mannerisms he performs, about as perfect of a Mihawk as you can get! Obviously, they've heavily changed up what happens in Baratie, which makes sense considering how little time they had for this arc, which was 12 episodes/27 chapters in the anime/manga. They have Mihawk easily taking care of Don Krieg, which is a good change for the live action. I don't like how Garp is the one that sends Mihawk to go after Luffy, though. It gives Mihawk less agency and autonomy. At least we got an awesome fight, or, rather, lesson, between Mihawk and Zoro. OPLA really nailed the fights for sure. Another change is that Sanji, not Nami, is the one that sees Zoro's defeat at Mihawk's hands in the manga/anime as Nami had already left at this point in the story. This change is both good and bad for me. It's bad in the sense that this was a pivotal moment for Sanji as the beginning of the turning point in going for his dream. It's good in the fact that it adds an element of sadness to Nami's arc in the live action. She's more outwardly attached to the crew here, especially Zoro. Also, have you noticed that Zoro and Nami aren't saying "We're not a crew" anymore?

2026-02-02 04:16:37 +0000 UTCAlso the actor for Mihawk is living his dream, he's a proper anime nerd and there was a panel at some convention and they asked the cast who their "waifus" were; Sanji I don't think was too familiar with anime so he made a joke about Nami being his waifu, I forget what Usopp said, I also forget what Nami said but she's a proper anime fan too, but my favorite was Mihawk because he said Soifon from Bleach and that's a proper waifu that I don't think is what I'd consider a "generic" answer to that question, ya know?

I think Zeff/Sanji were the best casting and acting in Season 1, if you haven't already watched/recorded Episode 6, you're not ready.
