Soren Shadowmend was an orphan since he was a child, his parents were killed by magical beasts. As a child, the captain of the royal guard in the capital took him in and trained him to be a soldier for the capital.
As Soren approaches his adult hood, he spends all his free time training to pay back the captain.
On the day Rhifland gets attacked and Majo gets kidnapped, the capital is also under attack and many soldiers died, but Soren was taken by Kabocha and brain washed to to his bidding, giving Soren dark powers thus giving Soren a new master.
