A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Ep. 6 | SEASON FINALE - WATCH ALONG!!

The choice of song at the end is a fun little bow through the fourth wall at the audience and in similar spirit to the "Night of the Nine Kingdoms" title card bit. Like, "In case you guys haven't picked up on it yet, this show is an allegory for class and society" and I absolutely love it. Like a sting/rimshot, comedic brilliance.
And gods, Lyonel is so much like Mon Mothma and Perrin in Andor to me. The question the whole season for him is "Your actions are good, but are you doing this because you're genuinely disillusioned with this awful society you're a privileged part of, or are you just a bored noble who's entertaining himself by stirring shit and kicking hornet's nests?" Like the whole show is "Nobility comes from actions, not the name you're born with." and by the end of this one I think there's *just* enough evidence that he's a true rebel hiding under the guise of a bored noble (I think this is what Greg was feeling but unable to articulate about what he's masking) and Daniel Ings really gets that and plays it so fucking well. He's opening up to Dunk in that moment. He's usually all unserious and laughing but like when he knights Raymun and takes the field in the trial, he's not laughing. And they'll always be brothers in the way that they both see the world as it really is, but Lyonel at this point has let his anger eclipse his love, and that's why they go separate ways.
It also adds a bitter new layer to Robert's Rebellion and the place that Thrones starts. The fires of the Rebellion being lit by people like Lyonel who saw that the games of the nobility and the machinations of gods were nothing, and that it's people who choose to do what's right no matter the cost that are the ones who really shape history, only for that rebellion to replace the one ruling family of incestuous freaks with a different one is wonderfully tragic.
So much of ASOIAF is about breaking cycles and choosing to compromise your values being your downfall. Like the guard in the flashback, "I was a thief when I was a kid, and now I work for the people who cut off kid's hands." No matter what happens, Dunk doesn't compromise like that, and like how Andor didn't kill Palpatine and free the galaxy, his actions and his commitment to the cause were critical to that happening. This show really gets Martin and his work and elevates all the other stuff at the same time. 10/10 finale.
Thanks guys, loved watching this one with y'all!

Amazing season. I hope we get more slice of life type shows like this. It's one of my favorite genres of anime
I get where Lionel is getting at when it comes to everyone risking their lives. Baelor went into the fight knowing that some of the people in the accusers side aren't allowed to harm him. The risk of death was higher with everyone else. It's just a cruel twist of fate that Baelor died

Soooooo good! They really nailed, making us feel Arthurian and whimsical…. Courtly love and all the literary elements, with almost childhood book charm.

It was my favourite episode of the show and oddly exactly how I would have written and presented the story (I write screenplays as a hobby)
Which is surprising to me because I was not the biggest GoT guy. Even when that show was objectively great, it wasn't my style of show necessarily (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Pluribus, The Americans etc are more my lane)
The more understated and sentimental nature of the show really vibes with me and I am very excited to see where it goes from here

That scene with Sir Arlan riding his separate way made me think of Fast 7 with Brian driving his separate way.

Loved this episode!
I’m so glad Dunk’s conversation with Daeron is what ultimately persuaded him to speak with Maekar again and reconsider taking Egg back as his squire. He now has the opportunity to help shape a future king—just as Ser Arlan shaped him—giving Egg the chance to become a capable, wise, and truly great ruler of Westeros.
Also, low-key, that final scene with Maekar asking for Egg loosely reminded me of Kevin’s mom realizing he was missing in Home Alone, lol.
Fantastic first season—can’t wait for Season 2!
