Gulf Fleet (alt angles)

A bit of a technical overview for some of the things I was trying to achieve in the main image. I didn’t include any of the effects in the renders for the alt angles as they were taking so long!

I haven’t done a multisize piece for a very long time it seems, and although there isn’t much in the way of interaction between the models it seemed like one of those situations where multisize would add something extra to the scene. One of the reasons I used to do it more when I was drawing is that it’s not that hard to put in an extra giantess. In Blender/3D, when you add in an extra model it can jump the render time up by many hours because you need to use CPU instead of GPU all of a sudden. With the Genesis 9 models from Daz that I normally use you need to have HD in order for there to be nipples or navels at all, so it increases the number of polys drastically, which also increases the render time, and the time it takes to export the model from Daz, and import it into Blender. Because of this I used some G8 models I have had for a while but not used before (I have more of these from 3rd party suppliers now, because some of them are really fun). It makes it less heavy to have multiple models in a scene.

Another thing I wanted to do was use some photoshop brushes to work in post, and still be able to put the whole image back into Blender in layers to do compositing. To be honest I haven’t got completely on top of it yet, but I am really happy with the results here. I also used these water effect brushes in the last Gulliver Retold chapter, and I think these look even better here. I’m hoping to use them more for water scenes as it’s very very heavy to be able to simulate water properly in Blender, especially when you’re looking for fairly realistic really big water effects that beings of this size would produce. With the alt angles I didn’t use any water effects or brushes as it’s a lot of work in post and hard to get to work in more extreme angles. As I say, I’m really glad with how these turned out though!
