Walking on a Landscape (test)
Added 2024-02-22 15:41:05 +0000 UTCA little WIP/test for your midweek enjoyment. I've had a go at using a fairly simple type of terrain map in Blender and made a quick setup for you to see. It's kind of a work in progress, but also not as I won't be taking this exact image further. It's more of a test to see how the technique and the landscape model works as I want to try to do some huge landscapes. The answers are positive but also this isn't going to solve any problems if I'm pushing for very high quality, and despite how quick it was to set up the render still took ages because of all the volumes (clouds, dust clouds, vapor trails). So although this is very cool and might be really great for things like backgrounds in the future, I also need to try to build my own landscapes, which is by all accounts very time consuming (easy to get the shape, harder to get realistic looking textures and colours). Anyway, I thought it was good enough to share.

2024-02-26 21:42:31 +0000 UTCI tried to explain in the text if you read it. It's more of a test. Once I build a new landscape I may recreate the shot but with this one there are things I can't change, (like the river) that just aren't good enough for me.
