Artemis grew up on a Dust world near the edge of Phoenix territory. Her family was lower-middle class, working hard hours in agriculture to make a living. After her father lost his arm to a processing drone increased pressure from her parents to fall into the family business pushed the wolf into the pursuit of other options. With a passion for flying and decent grades in school Artemis used her small-time criminal contacts to acquire a shuttle and leave her homeworld and its responsibilities behind.
Whilst Artemis had initially attempted to make a living legitimately, a series of bad deals and a looming financial debt pushed her into high-risk smuggling. To her fortune she managed to make it through this difficult period, buying some time and enough breathing room to take on a small crew. Unluckily her time in high-risk smuggling left her infected with a rare parasite, requiring constant medical care and adding to her financial stress.
Now the wolf flies the stars, looking for a score big enough to settle her debt and rid her body of its illness.
