We saw at the beginning of episode 5 I believe, Jinshi sparring with Basen and winning too (that was the first time we saw Basen till ep 15). they keep leaving us with question marks regarding Jinshi to give us headaches at this point xD Regarding Maomao's adaptive father, we got to know he was an eunuch during the honey mystery episodes. He became an eunuch in order to be able to work inside the rear palace (the empress's order) as no man is allowed entry except the emperor and his kin as we learnt in ep 1. He was indeed punished when the baby died by removing a knee cap, hence his disability now.
