Ballora’s story (mini comic #401)

I think this is the first time I’ve ever drawn Ms Afton, I’ve spoken of her here and there, especially when it comes to Ballora but definitely the first time I’ve given her a full design.

I haven’t gotten to play the silent hill 2 remake (90 dollars in CAD lmao) but I have been into silent hill for ages now, and have been enjoying all the new content around these games. So here my cope? Or my showing of appreciation of those games through this art.

I actually do like the idea that ballora reps Ms Afton, is made to look like her, William making her out of some form of missing his wife. I think there’s something quietly freaky about ballora, she knows William, she knows William wants her around, she sings lullabies about his misfortune. It’s haunting, so I think the Mary/Maria comparison is kinda on point. She’s the idealized ver of his wide, one he can control.

I had a lot of fun of actually designing her, there’s no official design for Ms Afton in any regard, but I went off a couple factors. What’s popular in the fandom, ideas I like and her looking like her family.

So everyone makes her blonde, which comes from the Clara comparison, I did a more dirty to orangey blonde, made sure her hair was similar to Elizabeth’s in texture. I also gave her green eyes and freckles, it’s strange that isn’t more of an accepted idea design trait for her. I actually like the green outfit, it contrasts William in a nice way. I also made sure she looked pretty much identical to Ballora, face, nose, eyes, down to the jewelry she wears. Also gave her the same part in the hair I gave the rest of the Aftons, I actually really like how her design turned out, we’ll see if I draw her again anytime soon.
