12 of Vivian at Rest, Jenn Mourning, and You--the audience--pondering your options

You remember that “once upon a time” Sleeping Beauty’s awakening involved actions more fortifying than a simple kiss. The explicit details of the ancient version occur to you when you find the magnificent body of Vivian Cove laid bare, and laid to rest in your ivy-carpeted garden.
You circle her, gazing from a variety of angles, closing on luscious lashes covering those fascinating eyes, imagining what you might place upon those placid lips . . . even as you’d claim you’re only so closely watching her chest to see if it rises and falls, even so slowly as to be almost imperceptible.
Just as you’re about to administer death’s antidote, though, another mourner arrives to apply a different life-renewing offering. This body’s friend Jenn ceremoniously replaces the flowers on Vivian’s chest. She rests her hand there, entwining her long slender fingers in the petals atop the stems. And then she lays her head on Vivian’s still body, napping there in the fatigue of grief.
Do you abate your attempts? Will you patiently postpone your plan? Whether to revivify Vivian, or to intimately insinuate this last meeting into your memory more vividly? Or do you warm to comforting Jenn with the kinds of cold consolations you would otherwise have taken, and may take still from her stilled friend?
