Gift of Hedone: Passives Rework

Hello you wonderful deviants,

The more i get into production, the more thoughts I have about how I want certain things to work. Originally the plan for passives was to be pretty standard. It would be set on a character level, and you would unlock more passives as you leveled.

But now, I want it to be a combination of your characters level that then contribute to a pool of points that goes towards unlocking passives which could change depending on the composition of your party,

So for example lets say it were to be 1 point per level, and this point would contribute to the affinity pool (earth, fire, water, light, and twilight) if the character, and the subclass (warrior, rogue, sorcerer)

The idea here is depending on the composition of your team it would change what passives would be active. So if based on your team, you had a water character that was a very high level, you would contribute a large number of points in the water column unlocking better water related passives. The idea is that each affinity may favor a certain playstyle so the passives may be tailored to AoE, or status effects (I'm not entirely sure yet)

This will also be the same with the subclasses. Then on top of that I would add unique team composition based bonuses. Ones where if you only used exclusively water types or, exclusively rogues in your team you could unlock a different passive.

The above image is just to give you an overall idea, but I liked this idea as it feels more about building a team, rather than focusing on a singular character.

Questions, thoughts, and feedback are all welcome :)

Thank you so much Chris, I really appreciate the feedback, and that is the goal in which depending on your composition it will kind of be a double edged sword depending on how heavy to build into single affinities or subclasses

I really appreciate you taking the time to ask questions, always happy to help clarify

This sounds great! I really like incentives to try different team compositions. It sounds like there could also be a trade-off for certain compositions. You could overstack your team in one affinity to unlock a particularly strong passive, but that might leave you vulnerable from not having other affinities on your team.
