Gift of Hedone: Poll - Side Quest Rewards - Accessories

I wanted to do a poll about Side Quests, I feel as though it can be hard to incentivize and finding reasons to do Side quests the further into a game you get especially if the rewards themselves are things you can get easily elsewhere (Money, EXP, materials etc.)
So what I was thinking of is having Accessories be obtainable as rewards, exclusively through side quests/bounty hunting etc. Not through crafting or world chests.
Accessories would be equip able items that could give a variety of buffs of additional HP, ATK, DEF, Ability Cooldown etc.
I don't think there is a perfect solution to perfect rewards, but I thought maybe adding truly unique rewards would make it seem worth it. You would also still get standard exp, money, etc rewards. What do you think of this? I am also open to alternatives or suggestions

Thank you so much for the feedback, so with this I dont think I will allow upgrading of accessories as that would disincentive doing other side quests to discover the better version, maybe I could consider adding it towards the end of the game, but right now I dont know if that will be something I add But I always appreciate your input!

2025-04-17 06:53:13 +0000 UTCThank you so much for the reply, so one reason I wouldn't want to do it based on EXP is due to level scaling, as it means you could get some really strong accessories straight of the bat and potentially steamroll the game. It incentives keeping on doing later side quests. And regarding armor thats a whole different story and different considerations which I still need to explore :)

2025-04-17 06:50:27 +0000 UTCLove this idea, i would suggest a way to improve these accessories so that you can keep your favorite items from the side quest throughout the playthrough (obviously level gated so that they don't become op and it's easier for you to balance the gameplay)

2025-04-17 06:06:34 +0000 UTCA traveling merchant would be fun. I can't help but think of fetch quests, but retrieving items such as panties or something. Or doing a really hard mission to obtain x-ray goggles. Portals would also be a cool item. All together side quests are great for adding things that add to the gameplay, so I guess the side plot ends up adding to the main plot

However, what if we went one extra step where the items obtained from quest was based on exp level? the higher your level, the better the reward. Also what if the items had unique looks? (ie, armor made from jewels like diamond, emerald and ruby? Or special looking armor like look like they belong on a diety?)

Maybe add where you can buy very simple and basic, common level accessories, maybe even uncommon in late game play, but anything rarer or more powerful from side quests exclusively. The difficulty of the side questing scaling with the ratify of the accessory. Maybe even make the reward a random accessory for repeatable side quests.

2025-04-16 23:48:38 +0000 UTCI think having the option of selecting your reward would be a good incentive. Like side quest 1 you can choose accessories a,b or c. That way if there is a specific attribute you need to buff you can select the accessory you need.

2025-04-16 23:08:52 +0000 UTCSmall idea. It might be a bit too grindy, but you might add a specialty item shop that curates specifically to say pieces of accessories. Like 3 pieces can make you a normal tier, 5 pieces=epic , 7 pieces=Legendary with real good effects.

2025-04-16 23:03:23 +0000 UTCI feel like they should reskins of items already available but maybe sexier. So, as a cliche example, standard quest grants +10 chainmail. But the side quest grants +10 chainmail bikini. That or give them a bonus effect.
