Legacy of the M'Zee Prologue and updates

*** AUTHOR'S NOTE ***

So, I've finished addressing all the comments and suggestions currently in the google docs. Thank you all for the help, as the story is now much stronger, I think, than it was. Especially big thank you to Mark, Adam, and Jacob for the huge amount of suggestions and rewrites they did. Go check out the final version if you want, as it goes to the editor on Monday.

Once I get the edited copy back, I'll post it here for a week or two before it goes to Amazon. Like before, it will be purchase only before going onto KU, which is when it'll be pulled from Patreon.

Let me know what you think of the prologue below and in the Chapter 1-15 Google doc

*** AUTHOR'S NOTE ***

An ethereally beautiful woman clad entirely in white lay panting next to an older man. His features were obscured by the black cloak that he wore at all times, but the long, black beard that hung from his face was visible and soaking with sweat.

“We did it,” Darkness said, groaning as he pushed himself to his feet.

“Yes,” Light said, deigning to just keep laying there. “The Dungeons are free of Chaos’s influence, if they wanted to be.”

“How many rejected you?” Darkness asked her.

“Slightly less than half,” she answered before gliding to her feet. “Three are close enough to Craesti and Ashkhas forces to be defeated fairly soon.”

“I will point them to their targets,” Darkness said, then grunted. “Well, once we recover. Come dear.” He took her hand, and they walked into a different room. With a gesture, drips of a liquid energy too pure, too powerful, to be Aether dropped onto the floor from ten Inscribed spikes.

The first drop caused another Inscription, a perfect evolution of the gathering Inscriptions built into the Craesti training facilities, to flare to life. The two deities stepped into the middle, pulled each other close, and then they absorbed a flood of energy sufficient to overwhelm every single Core-level gatherer on the planet below them.

Hours, days, passed as they gathered, until finally Darkness stepped out of their embrace. “Fire’s Inheritance!” He exclaimed, “one of my chosen ones has found it!”

“It was on the Askhas island,” Light said, her eyes wide. “Why did we not realize it?”

“He hid it well from us, to keep it from Chaos,” Darkness said, pride on his face. “Of course, the Ashkhas would not understand the M’Zee language. Come, let us watch Aiden explore.”

“Remember to guide the Ashkhas Sayaad to the non-compliant Dungeon,” Light said sternly. “Do not get too distracted by your favorite chosen.”

Darkness just laughed, walking through their chambers to the globe, sending a few quick messages before zooming in on his favorite zoomie.
