The comment on my recent wip post about “how I do this so fast” got me thinking that it could be something to show you guys a bit of my process. Believe me, it’s not fast. Typically I’ll find a good pose ref and start off with the base shapes. It’s very rough at this point, but if I like what I’ve done, I move on to the more refined version, and then keep adding detail until I get to the line art. It definitely takes a while to do this though, but I think my key to “success” is that I’ll have ref material off to the side of the art board so I can replicate details more easily (I do my art digitally, so having photos off to the side is easy enough).
This is another wip piece I have going of bulma on namek. It’s a simple piece with not a lot of detail, and no background (as of yet), but it’s going on at least 4 hours of steady work. Once I have all the line art complete, and then color it will probably be about 6 or so hours on it. Maybe less depending on how I feel about the coloring portion.
This is an extremely simplified explanation, but it’s the easiest way to show on here what I do while working on my art. I do have an older Timelapse to show, and if I can figure out how to actully post video here on patreon, I’ll do a part 2 to this post. The main point is that this does take time to do, and you guys only ever see a portion of how these are done.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk😉
