lmao late to comment on this but i feel like i must be in the minority here. 20 to life yeah she probably killed someone. but im of the mindset that a teenager shouldn’t be doing life for anything🤷🏾♀️ like it seems a little overkill to me, like keeping someone in prison longer than they’ve been alive? if its about rehabilitation, where’s the rehabilitation in that? just keeping someone in prison on tax dollars for 50+ years is crazy to me. i’ve watched a lot of real life court shows and things like that, and they interview a lot of inmates who have been there for years and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, and the person that they become (sometime) is a COMPLETELY different person from who was arrested. it gets to a point where you’re not even punishing the same person. and id feel this way if the teen was black or latina, man or woman. empathy is hard and i don’t say i have it for EVERYONE but i do have it for teens with life sentences. if its that heinous and irredeemable, that’s what the death penalty is for. i don’t see the point in a life sentence. but again i don’t trust the death penalty because i don’t think humans with all our flaws should be able to condemn others to death…its all a mess i truly just don’t think the prison system works like ever but that’s my two cents.🤷🏾♀️ yeah she obviously did something horrible but a child has all the time and opportunity to change, if it’s given to them
