Early July Status Update

Greetings!

It’s been a while since our last update, and I’ve (rightfully) been asked about the progress of Update 7. First things first: the very ambitious July release unfortunately won’t work out after all — so expect it sometime in August instead (I hope).

That being said, we haven’t been slouching — but the scope of this update is just on a whole other level.

Art and Writing:
Let’s start with the numbers. We're currently sitting at 14,500 lines in the main story file and roughly 700 images (including variations with different expressions).

So whether it’s Akari trying to make sense of Richter’s research…

...or just Gina doing fun activities with the others.
There are a lot of scenes currently being built. And we’re producing more unique images than ever before, showing the action rather than just telling it. The downside? That takes time — and we still have around 20 scenes in the backlog that need to be finished before I can start piecing everything together into a cohesive update.

Coding and Reworks:
A lot is happening on the backend, too. We’re reworking and redesigning a lot of old code and images. Since we now have a ton of side characters to develop, all the static image calls are being reworked into dynamic ones, which also means creating proper character objects, and so on.

We also need to define a new starting point, because — once again — I think save games should carry over… but past experience says otherwise.
Oh, and maybe a second boss fight. If players get access to a certain redhead as a fighter, you’d better be able to let her show off against a proper boss. But we’ll see... (cause bosses take long to make)
