Greetings, ladies and gentlemen.
Time for a long overdue status report. With my damn bachelor's thesis finally done, I was able to return to making my favorite little game with all the intensity it deserves 😁
So let me bring you all up to speed.
Writing and Art:
Last time, I mentioned that the main storyline was complete and that we’d be focusing on side content for the next development phase. And that’s exactly what we did. We’re now sitting at 8.5k lines in the main story file, nearly 400 images (granted, some are just different expressions for fullscreen images—but still!!), and the number is only growing.
The focus last week was on exploration events. Whether it’s:
Gina, who wants to be able to better scout enemy territory and decides to become a girl scout at the ripe age of 24...
Gina joining the Albero family on a beach trip, looking after her favorite little girl...
Or helping Philipp in a time of desperate need at the storage unit—definitely not just to woo him by showing off the strength of a Lvl 6 Amazon lifting a crate full of weights overhead...
Let’s just say, there are plenty of fun opportunities for Gina all over town.
So far, nearly every scene has received special CGs to highlight the action. Just the three events mentioned above include 15 unique CGs and many more variants of character sprites, making them more vibrant and memorable than ever before. Okay, maybe not every scene will get that level of treatment (or we’ll be working on this until the end of time), but we’re doing our best to strike a balance between quality and progress.
Coding:
Combat mechanics are almost done, and the dialogue tracker is complete—adding roughly 4,000 lines of code to the game. A few tasks remain, like a planned rework of Gina’s training sequences and an update to the chapter skip feature to allow players to jump in right after the trial, but all of that is manageable.
Villain Arc:
Last week, we received the final pieces of the commissioned writing, which means the ball is now in our court to edit and create the required images for those parts. It’s great to see development on 6.2 resuming as well. A May release would probably be too ambitious, but I’m aiming for early June.
So all in all, we’re on track to deliver the biggest—and hopefully most memorable—update yet. The main storyline is intense, the town more vibrant than ever, and Gina’s upcoming dates with the girls and Phil (the only one written so far 😅) are just around the corner.
That’s all for now. Wishing you a lovely week, and I’ll keep you posted with news about 6.2 very soon!
