Test my weird tastebuds.

Hi all,

I want your advice on something completely not music-related, although good taste could apply to both.

Likely due to covid, my sense of taste has gone wacko. I can still taste - it's not gone - it's just bizarre. For example, I tried honey this morning and gagged because it tasted extremely bitter. Costco quiche (a household favorite) simply tasted off last night - so bad that I couldn't eat more than a bite. I threw out a bunch of clementines yesterday because I thought they were rancid. My topo chico (sparkling water) also tastes off - almost like it has a hint of bad mellon in it.

FYI, my smell seems diminished, but that might be due to congestion.

We're going to order some groceries in about an hour. What do YOU think we should put on the grocery list for me to try?

I promise to report back on ten of your food suggestions.

Thanks again to everyone for your support. Covid seems to have hit us a bit harder than most - especially Mycroft - but I think that as of today we are on an uphill trajectory.

Bests,

Elizabeth

Peanut butter. When I had covid I did not lose the taste of peanut butter. But, everybody is different.

I responded on your IG channel, but I'll reply again here, because I know what you're going through. I had 13 rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant. It killed my taste buds for many months. The bone marrow transplant was the worst. Nothing tasted good at all. I was having trouble eating anything. I mentioned on your IG channel that you should try sipping bone broth. That's what they gave me when I was in the isolation room at Mount Sinai in NYC and couldn't eat anything. After a while, I was only able to eat sweet things, like ice cream. It was the only thing that didn't taste bitter. I guess the good news is you'll get your taste buds back over time. After the chemo and bone marrow thing, I had Covid. So it was a double whammy. But again, everything eventually settled down and now I'm back to normal. I hope you feel better quickly! Listen to some new music. I have some great suggestions for bands that I suspect you're unaware of. I'd be more than happy to post a few links here if you're up to checking them out!!!

This is something that worked for my brother who had trouble with his sense of smell and his taste being a bit off. What he did was increase his vitamin D3 (andK2) and Zinc. He took a slightly higher dose than the RDA but within a couple of days his sense of smell improved, and his sense of taste was muted rather than completely off. I don't recommend supplements unless the person has the advice of their doctor but that was what worked with him.
