Weekly Update (IT'S BACK BABY) 4/19/25

Greetings! I'm bringing back Weekly Updates. With my little health panic, I had to take a look at the way I've been working, and realized a lot of the stress I was under, and why I worked this way, came down to trying to hide production failures/bumps by churning work out consistently and quietly. But life gets complicated, the actors and artists have lives, and sometimes your head hurts because the iron count in your blood is too low... Or maybe that's just me. I'll be using these updates to keep everyone apprised not just of the good that's coming from making audios, but the bumps too, and hopefully I can lean on you all to smooth things over if I'm stuck. Plus, I'm juggling more projects, and can provide adequate updates on them. Much of this information can be found on Trello, but I like being able to communicate more directly with these posts.

FELIX, REM, & RAM

Felix (MacStar) and Ram (LHeartVoiceOver) have sent in their lines! I was waiting on a new VA (GeminiStarsign1) to send an audition for Rem, but she was unable to for a few weeks. Waiting made me anxious I admit, but she a great job of it and has been cast for the role! She has begun recording her lines, and insists she can get it done in 2-3 days, so I believe you'll be hearing those three blow it up this week!

AQUA, DARKNESS, AND MEGUMIN

I've been having a lot of trouble with this script. The premise is very broad, and reliant on dialogue which means that budget inflates pretty quickly. I have some funny ideas but I'm still working out how to convey them efficiently. I'm going to try to have it done this weekend though. In truth, a hard part of creating audios is that they need to be full-fledged stories, but they also need to be low on word count to save on cost, while not skimping on detail. It's a difficult balancing act, and one I used to struggle to hide, but transparency is the best policy. I'll keep working until I have a script that's funny, sexy, and doesn't break the bank.

PALUTENA, BAYONETTA, LUCINA, AND SAMUS

Due to fatigue and having a lot on my plate, I've tapped the submitter to help co-write the audio. He's completed a first draft and I'll be converting it into the usual script format and refining it from there. That said, I'm unsure if this or Konosuba will come out first. The artist needs time to focus on in-real-life obligations, and I am waiting on auditions for Bayonetta, easily the hardest voice to cast. I should have them all in by Monday and I can make a decision by then.

PERSONA 5 GIRLS & MORGANA

Being 100% transparent here, this premise is liable to be among the most expensive to ever win a poll if handled incorrectly. For context, the total cost of all ShyLily assets was $500. There's a world where it comes in under that, but it needs to be done perfectly. And because I still have Konosuba (3 girls) and Smash (4 girls) coming up, an audio with 5 girls is going to be difficult to fund and coordinate at this time. You likely will not hear any real updates about it for the rest of the month.

KOBENI & POWER ($10 Tier)

While I'm absolutely spent and still not feeling great, this one is essential for me to complete on time. Thankfully, all VAs are able to turn in lines within a few days, and the premise is short, so I am confident it will be done.

HATSUNE MIKU

Pal's tablet broke... so uh... Whoops. I've paid to have it fixed on his behalf and it's been shipped for repair, and we've been told it should be done by the 26th. I'd be curious to hear if people still would prefer to wait for the comic version with this in mind. Otherwise it will take a few more weeks to hear it.

For the record, you may see these updates, all the problems and issues, and you might think I am frustrated or it is the source of being worn out. In truth this is exactly what I want to be doing with my life... well maybe not the scat porn part, but thriving in the chaos of production is the fun part. If I wanted anything but this, I would do shorter pieces using video game soundbites. But as much as I bitch and moan, I like rising to a challenge, solving problems, and delivering. It's just stressful when there's a lack of communication with the audience, it turns out. Plus, I just need a healthier relationship with working.
