At the outset of this month I had a bit of a trek that I had to take, sorta outta nowhere too! I was getting up early in the morning, taking 2 flights, then driving back through 3 states over the course of 10 hours. So I put the call out on my Discord for topics of discussion, be it questions or just jumping off points for me to get into.
So here's me for nearly an hour just driving on the open road, talking to y'all, and my voice slowly leaving me 😆 I don't know why. Maybe it was the weather or something but my throat felt super dry and it was hard to talk sometimes, even with taking sips of my drinks. So I do apologize if I don't sound like my usual best here 😅

Writing in a Japanese café.... omg... the dream. I've got skeletons of 2 books sitting in the depths of my hard drive waiting to be worked on. 😅 Waaaaa corn nuts!!! 😻 those are SO good! I havent had them in forever. Can only do the original ones now tho because the other flavors have stuff in them that I don't eat. I can't stand tail riders... i don't break check either but I do have a decal on my car that says "my breaks are good. How's your insurance?" 🤣 I've also seen "if you're gonna ride my ass, at least pull my hair" Your creative process is like how they taught us in high school to write essays. But then, having a different method for specific types of projects - that is actually really brilliant! (Look at you, smart cookie!) Kinda like how polyglots tend to use different voice tones for different languages. Idk how you can stand driving more than 2 hours. If I have to do that, I'm either flying or taking a train/bus. Lol

Ngl it was kinda nice that you didn’t write down who asked what because I often get really embarrassed when you read my questions on the podcast 🤣 but you answered some of mine, so thanks!! 🙌🏻 I was all set and ready to be all “silly GG, the flight to Japan is longer than the flight back because of the rotation of the earth!” UNTIL I realized that doesn’t really make sense because by that logic, it should be the other way around in that the flight to Japan should be shorter than the flight back since the earth rotates west to east. But in that one person who, when someone asks a random question and no one knows the answer, I HAVE to google it, so after my diligent research on the first page of google, I can report that it’s due to jet streams, which are air currents that happen at very high altitudes, like the kinds you reach on a flight, and for some reason they make eastbound flights faster than westbound? I’m too tired to really understand all the nitty-gritty of the science of it, but there’s the basic answer 🫡 Awe, tbh I understand being hesitant to play music in the car with someone, I often worry that my music taste is gonna come off as bad to the other person, even if we’re friends 🫣 but if I were in the passenger seat, I’d happily listen to your favourite tunes with you! When you talked about being burnt out earlier this year, I just wanted to give you a big ol’ hug 😭 I don’t remember if you went into it at the time, but I do remember having a few moments when I thought “hm… dude seems to be pushing himself a bit much, he might be burnt out” and that’s why I always try to remind everyone in the discord daily to do their basic self care, including rest!!!! Like I said the other day, you’re doing amazing 🫂 I know you’re a perfectionist and that that’s why you work so hard and can be a bit self-critical, but don’t be so hard on yourself! I’m glad it sounds like you’re in a better place in that regard, though 🥹 just take good care of that heart of yours, okay? I’m probably gonna stop rambling in just a moment here, but thanks for talking over your writing process a bit! I know I haven’t written many scripts myself— I’ve STARTED a bunch (my docs would probably give you an aneurysm… sorry 😅), but always hit a wall or overthink something or even just… don’t have the time or energy for it. Usually it’s that last one, I think, or at least that’s usually the main culprit. But hopefully I can write more someday, even if it’s just another script or two! And I’d love to read one of your scripts to see how you go about structuring it, how you indicate things like SFX or actions or whatever, because that’s something I really struggle with— I guess direction? Indications? 😅 hey, at least in my latest WIP I don’t add the intended listener lines, which I used to do out of paranoia that they wouldn’t be intuitive even based on context. Again, overthinking 🥹 Aaaanyway, I really should get some sleep before my brain is just a complete puddle 🤣 but again, this was lovely, and the perfect way to unwind at the end of the day 🥰
