Hey friends!

Y'all have been very patient these last few months and I appreciate it. I had some time tonight so I thought I'd walk you through what you can expect as we wrap up 0.8c and move on to 0.9. I've been mostly previewing you sexy visual content because it's easy to show off, but that's just one piece of what we've been working on.

I'm going to break this post up into a few so that every point gets the attention it deserves.

1) Welcome our newest dev team member, Riven!

Many of you likely know Riven from some of the excellent gameplay mods he's been cooking up on our Discord. I'm very happy to say that he's joined up as a full member and has already been helping me wrangle 0.8c into shape. I can't tell y'all enough how helpful it's been to bring onboard not only his coding abilities but also his professional experience - we are already miles more logistically organized as a result of him joining and it makes me happy.

2) Our tentative target is to have coding finalized for 0.8c by the end of this month, at which point I expect we will move on to a public beta to iron out all the quirks from the major technical overhaul we've been cooking up.

I already announced this on the Discord, but 0.8c will require a new save. I know this isn't what many of you want to hear, but the team and I decided that this was as good a time as we were going to get for us to make a ton of breaking changes and clean up all of the compatibility code we've been hauling around since 0.3a. I am trying hard to avoid things like this, but it was a choice between a) significant tech optimization or b) putting the inevitable off for another version or two and that felt like a no-brainer to me.
