Official Release: v0.8a and Roadmap

Hi y'all!

We're back with the official 0.8a release!

Please join us on our Discord to report any issues!

PC, Mac, and Android

I also have a new roadmap for y'all!

You'll note that it does not include deadlines. That is because I am back in medical school and, for the next 12 months, will be immersed in clinical rotations. I am coding and animating for TNH in the nights and on the weekends I have off, often instead of spending time with my partner/sleeping/studying. That is not cause for worry - TNH brings me an immense amount of joy and I remain dedicated to it. However, the only way I'm not going to utterly burn out is if I can work on the game at my own pace and be flexible with deadlines without being beholden to the "when update???" voices.

Eventually the dev team will be able to afford another programmer to help share the workload, but until then we're all going to need to recognize my limits as a human being and allow for updates to come when they come. I want to reiterate that we are still not "profitable" yet - I estimate that the dev team will start to be able to pay ourselves at the $4500/month mark, when our art needs are fully covered without me dipping into my own pocket.

My internal goal, which I think is very attainable, is to get to v1.1 before the end of the year.

Just finished whats out so far and loved it. I look forward to more, I'll definitely be upgrading my subscription for the high quality story and content. Hoping one day to see Magik(She's a favorite of mine in comics)

It's been such a joy to see this game develop, especially after hearing how busy you are in your life! Obviously we're all eagerly awaiting the next update but I'm glad to hear that you're prioritising yourself and your team first. Best of luck with med school, we'll always be here when you get back! <3

We're taking our time to make sure the codebase is as developed and robust as possible before forging ahead. Every major update has seen dramatic revisions to base systems while I figure out what's going to be the most futureproof for all the features we'd like to one day include. Those changes then need to be extensively tested. I'm just one programmer - can you imagine how difficult it would be for me if I had to do all of that while rushing ahead with new characters? You'd get Kitty sooner, sure, but the game would be an absolute mess. Projects like this can easily die just from the combinatorial problem of adding additional characters. One of the most common ways they get around this problem is by having character interactions be really quite limited. We want to have our cake and eat it too. That requires patience. You'll have to trust me that I'm not just fucking around with the code for the fun of it - I'm trying to build a system that will support our full vision for the game.

Disappointing to see how long it takes for the story to progress.
