Dev Roadmap #1: Major Updates

Hey friends!

We wanted to share what's on the horizon for the next few major updates as well as prospective timelines for update release.

Note that the listed items are by no means a complete description of what each major update will contain - for example, virtually every update will include new events, system improvements, more sandbox writing, and so on. The listed items simply represent the major goalposts we are using to classify each update as finished and ready for release.

The dates listed represent our best estimates given our artists' progress at our current funding as well as a prospective estimate given our funding target of $2500/month.

In the meantime, 0.3c is baking and will feature a preliminary version of Rogue's new missionary pose, updated and animated in Live2D!

Yes! We're doing everything we can to make game versions backwards compatible from 0.3a on! Hasn't been an issue yet.

Sounds nice - Thank You! What is the plan? Will the v.0.4b backward compatible regarding the game saves?

0.4b is coming out this weekend, then it's all hands on deck to try and get 0.5a out by the end of the month. We might slip a week into June because of some IRL deadlines but we'll try our best.

Hey guys! No problem (it was my post :) ) - I made it quickly in the morning without really taking the time to write out proper feedback also, so nothing lost! Thanks for the extensive reply, I do certainly understand your position and it's for sure a worthwhile effort to make :) I simply believe that the current art is already very good and perhaps just doing the new style in Live2D would've been fine for new content only ? Or would that have been too much of a contrast between old and new perhaps? Definitely good ways of looking at it, can't fault you there at all. It's great to optimise processes and the earlier you do that the better, for sure! My initial reaction was more of a "but I loved what you made, why are you redoing it" :) But it all makes sense for sure.

I made a mistake and accidentally deleted a comment that was expressing disappointment that we were taking so much time to redo existing content. Very sorry!!! Here is my response to the original comment: I hear you, focusing on polishing Chapter I content vs. moving forward with the story was a difficult decision to make. In the end, it came down to two things: 1) The benefits of moving to Live2D are simply too great to ignore, but they also require a significant time investment that I wanted to make sure wouldn't go to waste, e.g. by spending that time on sex art that didn't meet our standards. Once you see Rogue's new missionary pose in action in 0.3c, I really think you'll agree that it's worth taking the time to upgrade the sex art. 2) The art is our major time bottleneck, but this is somewhat of a blessing in disguise: while it's being produced, we have time to focus on writing and adding gameplay systems. v0.6 won't simply be v0.3 + updated art, it will have a ton of new content that represents both us fleshing out the game world and also polishing up systems. It's very tempting to want to say things are good enough now and rush into Chapter II, but if we are clever about spending our time making sure Chapter I is relatively airtight, it will make it that much easier to produce high quality content at a reasonable pace in the future.
