For this month’s Yggsmir piece, I’ve been working on Ervo Breaker!!
I’ll preempt this by saying I find it very frustrating that I haven’t been able to finish him.
I’ve tried everything this month, but between personal life obstacles and February being the 4-weeks-and-nothing-more month that it is, this is unfortunately where I have to pause on him (for now at least).
I don’t even have the time to delve into his lore, but I will say what I said while I was working on him during the month (obviously, the usual disclaimers - this is all a work in progress, so anything may change):
My first story is going to be set in an art deco style Dwarven city, under the surface of Svartlegard, a core world of the Yggsmir!
Split between the Gatsby style hoarding dwarves and the Brummy style industrial/ mining dwarves, I’ll be dealing with a member of the Shorn, Ervo Breaker
I’ll be focusing on the dwarves history making fascinating and powerful weapons that we still talk about today:
Mjolnir, Gungnir, Laevateinn, Draupnir, Gullinbursti, Gleipnir etc.
…And now Ervo’s twin daggers, the Stefnur.
Powerful blades that can summon each other (when they stop arguing!). 😜
The name “Breaker” is similar to the “Snow” in “Jon Snow” - They broke their oaths and lose their last name as well. No more grand lineages for you!! 😉
Ervo is short for Krullervo. (Yes, I have three characters with that name. Yes on purpose. I think. Maybe I forget!!)
Once again, thank you all so much for your support for me and The Yggsmir.
It means a lot to be able to work on something that means so much to me, and while he’s not where I wanted to get him, I hope you all enjoy this peek at Ervo!! 🥰
