The Allshape

For the next pic of the month, we've got another Yggsmir piece on top of the lore from earlier this month, The Allshape!! 😉

Christmas, New Years, my birthday, my new gym experience, Bluesky, my husband’s exploration of a new side of himself and finally Yggsmir has made this one crazy ass month!! 🤪

As I have Cub type this out for me, I am stuck at home, miserable because of a reaction to my current medications. (I’m having some difficulty sleeping, can’t keep solids down - This is sadly not unusual.) But I need to take a few days off and so I do not have much more additional work to share with you.

I have managed to produce this picture of one of the characters from The Yggsmir.

The Allshape is one member of the God-like beings known as The Allsouls, and also a member of the Jotnar race.

While The Allshape is atypical for a Jotnar, they often prefer to take on a traditional Jotnar look.

Jotnar have grey skin, large pointy elven ears, glowing blue irises with black pupils and black sclera. They have no body hair and only grow hair on their head in a thin strip along the centre of their skull. Jotnar culture allows for the geometric tattooing of the throat and the throat alone. This is because the Jotnar throat is a powerful magical organ, whose mysteries facilitate the Jotnar’s abilities to shapeshift.

With the exception of The Allshape, Jotnar are not true shapeshifters such as, say, Mystique, but rather they are considered only able to mimic the sapient races of the tree. Without an ability to change colour or grow hair, all Jotnar shapeshifted forms look like a Jotnar imitating the shape of another race… poorly. 😅

For example, what you are looking at here is not a Jotnar in its true original form… It is The Allshape taking the Jotnar’s Spellsinger form, or Galdur form. They have several forms that bear similarities to monstrous imitations of Bears, Boars, Orcs, Wolves and Serpents.

I will be exploring the jotnar race more fully in February hopefully.

Each planet on the tree tends to favour a different Jotnar form and treats them accordingly… though usually horrifically.

As a race, their versatility, their oppression, their history & lore and deeper connection to real world mythologies… I can’t wait for you to find out how these Jotnar came to inspire the vampire legends of old Europe and what connection they have (if any) to the Neverdragon or Nidhoggr.

(Much of this is still being worked on and decided. Everything is subject to change - names, places, even teasers.)

You Beasts will have some variants in here of course with different backgrounds, lighting/finishes and transparent backgrounds (Sticker versions) and of course you’ll also have all of the usual things too (4K versions, Timelapses, Workfiles etc.).
