The comic takes place in May 1927. This - happening in September 1927 - isn't a direct continuation of that, but it's not *entirely* disconnected either. We had to think long and hard on how to make it accessible to comic non-readers (in terms of the amount of information we could convey in the allotted time), while doing something a little more with the story for readers to (hopefully) enjoy too.

BWAHAHA, classic. XD And ohhh, the film takes place in September of 1927! Interesting considering the comic takes place in April of 1928, so this can possibly be filed under "prequel" though I know it's just a standalone thing.
