Mannnn this episode was crazy, I feel like I called it though, Appa being gone upset the group dynamic sooo much, it was actually really hard to watch And go through the motions with arguably his best friend gone, if it wasn't for the fact that Sokka added soo much lighthearted banter with his cactus juice lol it would of been a hard episode to watch, really enjoyed it though I am ready for the journey to continue, Hopefully we find Appa soon!!!

Not only is Aang upset because Appa is his friend and has now been taken from him, but Appa is also the only living connection that Aang has to his culture and past, so now that connection is gone too. It truly speaks volumes that Katara and Aang's relationship is strong enough for Katara to be able to stop him from his sadness and rage and pain in the Avatar state. It reminds me of this quote from Book 2 Episode 1 from Katara: "I'm not saying the Avatar State doesn't have incredible and helpful power ... but you have to understand ... for the people who love you, watching you be in that much rage and pain is really scary."

2020-11-17 21:13:33 +0000 UTCAlso this is the first time Toph sees Aang in the Avatar State. Up until this point she's ONLY seen goofy childish Aang. I love the attention to animation, you can see the shock and fear on Tophs face.
