Poetry & Rambles ๐
Added 2025-02-21 05:43:16 +0000 UTCI've been really wanting to get back into poetry lately! I went through a big poetry phase in late high school, early college where I used it as a creative and emotional outlet. There was something so cathartic about distilling the emotional rollercoasters of social life into short, poignant prose. Poetry was this type of emotional packaging where I could share these difficult pieces of myself. A type of communication so masked in metaphor that it almost felt anonymous.
I was originally planning on pulling out one of my old poems to share, but after reading through them I got a little too embarrassed at how angsty they were ๐
So instead I decided to share one of the poems I wrote specifically for a msub audio I made a few years ago! I had never done a romantically-themed love poem before and I was surprised at how much fun it was to write ๐
So as I announce my intent to write more poetry and share this lil' one with you guys, I wanted to know if any of you write or have written poetry? And if you do, do you have any advice for getting in the right headspace? Do you let your emotional state bubble to the surface? Or is it more of a focused, creative process? I'd love to hear what you think and to shamelessly steal your ideas ๐ Oh.. and here's the poem!
I wait for the faint trace of a sigh
After ferocity has left her
Beneath the waves and torrential sky
An undisturbed oasis stirs
In the brief moments of serenity
There's a vibrancy of life
Gorgeous, glassy-eyed identity
Well defended from strife
A prolonged gaze is all it takes
For watchful winds and whipping waves
Secrets like these have high stakes
Now sunken deeper than my grave
I think I understand why
Sailors can become hypnotized
I think I want to worship her
Always on my knees, mesmerized
Just watching that breath rise and fall
Enraptured by her Siren's call
(The audio that I used the poem in was originally posted here on Patreon, but moved over to my reddit over here.)

2025-02-21 05:49:08 +0000 UTCFirst I wanna say your poem Wow, this is absolutely stunning! The imagery you've woven through your words creates such a vivid, powerful scene. The contrast between the intense forces of natureโferocity, waves, and whipping windsโand the calm, almost otherworldly oasis you've described is just breathtaking. The way you capture the hypnotic allure of this presence, likening her to a Siren, is both mesmerizing and haunting. Thereโs an elegant, almost sacred reverence in your description, and the emotional depth feels raw and honest. The rhythm and flow in your writing pull you in, like being caught in that moment of serenity amidst chaos. Incredible work.
