Notice how Levi is listening to the conversation Eren, Mikasa and Armin are having after the party. He previously asked what plans Erwin has for after Shiganshina has been retaken, and got the response that that's more or less where his aspirations end. Then he hears Armin raving on about the giant salt lake, the mountains of ice, the rivers of fire and whatnot. If nothing else this should reframe for him how much of a follow-worthy leader Erwin is since he sees other options, other ways of how motivated someone can be. He might also be thinking back to some of his uncle's last words: "Everyone had to be drunk on something to keep pushing on" Erwin's booze is wanting to find out the truth about the world, Armin's is wanting to actually see and experience it

Man what a teaser at the end. Sadly i am behind watching GOT now but we will catch up some time. You did not lost us haha

2025-09-26 05:00:02 +0000 UTCHe was in love with Eren's mother, but instead of being interested in him, she showed interest in Doctor Jaeger... who, despite claiming he's not special, was saving all these people's lives and a brilliant doctor. So I think he believed that Eren's mother would've noticed him, and instead fallen in love with him, had he been "special" like Eren's father. And yeah, I believe he sabotaged Eren's ODM gear as a means of trying to protect him, likely feeling some sort of affection for Eren due to caring so much about his mother. He likely remembered when she told him she doesn't want/need Eren to grow up to be someone special, and was happy to just see him live an ordinary life.

2025-09-25 21:02:49 +0000 UTCJust a reminder that the final OAD lost girls part 3 can be watched now (between 12 and 13). Though IMO it works fine to just watch it after the season as well if you'd rather do that, but that wouldn't be the "correct" release order of the episodes

2025-09-25 18:00:27 +0000 UTCQuite a few anime series feature this idea of being ”special”, most notably it’s the core theme of the fantastic anime ”Mob Psycho 100”. There’s even a word for being ”just an ordinary person” in Japanese, 凡人 bonjin (what Keith calls himself later in the episode), which is the polar opposite of someone who is ”special”. Your assessment of it relating to finding purpose is pretty spot on, I think!

2025-09-25 16:09:24 +0000 UTCI think there is definitely a commentary within the show about what it means to be special I'm sure you've seen in lots of other shows and films the idea of the 'chosen one', which is pretty common in this type of anime as well. I think at some points Eren probably thought of himself of being some kind of chosen one, given he has this unbelievable titan power. But the after his whole experience with Historia and Rod Reiss in the cavern under the chapel he is perhaps seeing himself differently. Then there's the complicating factor of his own father's role within the story. Eren didn't know where he got his titan powers from before, but now he knows it was forcefully given to him by Grisha. Has he been chosen for a great task by his father? Has he been cursed by his father to carry this burden? p.s. the "because I was born into this world" line is something that Eren said at the end of episode 12 in season 1, if you recall.

Also the part where Carla says "hes our boy" to me i heard "it is a boy" as in the gender of the baby is a male. (This is just what I personally heard/underrstood tho) Also what a teaser , forgot how scary it was tho lmao
