I too have a brain that craves more information, and might I highly suggest the book, The World of Ice and Fire. A plethora of history and lore in there, and it's written by one of the Grand Maesters. (And contains no spoilers)

2025-09-17 14:08:36 +0000 UTC2:50 the valyrian sword is called "ICE" (Ned Stark's sword), just like Jon Snow has a Valyrian sword named: Longclaw, Brienne's Valyrian sword: Oathkeeper... that's how it goes :)
