It's because the Watch sent a letters to all the "kings" in the War of the Five Kings asking them for their help, saying that otherwise everyone will die to the Others/Long Night. Stannis being the only one of the Kings to actually believe in magic/visions/etc he's the only one to have taken that threat seriously and Melissandre confirms his beliefs, so they head North to help the Night's Watch (indeed because of Stannis' sense of duty!)

2025-10-08 14:46:52 +0000 UTCSo I see both Stu and some of you viewers and commentators wonder what Stannis and his army are doing North-of-The-Wall fighting the wildlings. It is something, Stannis, The Onion Knight, Melisandre and Queen Selyse all have seen in the flames, but we viewers have not been shown it. One of the two instances is in ep7 at around 29:25, the other must be in an earlier ep. I believe it has to be something akin to the White Walker reveal, what they do to Craster's offerings, and Dany's vision of King's Landing in ruins covered in snow ... only worse, I think they must have seen Westeros being overrun by the WW and their army of the dead. Stannis - being all duty - will have shifted North to stop that. Am I wrong?

2025-09-20 13:56:47 +0000 UTCOh that's a good point, and it's interesting that (some self reflection) I didn't even consider that might have been the case. I was probably just emotionally led due to the death of the kid that I just took what he said for granted!

2025-09-16 15:51:58 +0000 UTCThere is a theory that Daenerys' dragon didn't kill that kid. Instead it was the former masters who did that. So that Daenerys will have to lock up her dragons. Because we saw in a previous episode when Drogon was hunting sheep, a kid was there, and Drogon left the kid and went for the sheep. And if Drogon killed the kid on purpose, then why didn't he eat the kid? So something fishy.
