I never made the connection between the mother of the forest village girl and the underground capital slums despite watching the show a dozen times. Yea they said that you get deported if you don't have a permit to live aboveground, I'd guess that's because the capital is in the innermost walls, Sina, and you need a permit to live there if you're from other parts of the wall too, so it makes total sense that if the village girl's mother managed to get up the stairs legally or illegally after already having chronic leg problems due to lack of vitamin D impacting her leg bone and muscle density, she'd get deported and might end up in a farming village like the one in the forest. Who knows, maybe the reason she chose to leave the underground despite knowing she can't stay at the capital is that she got pregnant and wanted her child to get a better life than she did? Totally not the focus of your reaction but it's a new thing I've noticed about the show, which still keeps happening on every single rewatch

And I guess Erwin looked into the dead face of his comrade who was supposed to look after Levi, Furlan and Isabel. I am interested in how the story of both of them evolved! And it reminded me of arcane because of the whole underground and above ground society system. I wonder if this underground thing is till going someway? And I have to say that it was a new experience for me to hear the German song sung by a Japanese.

2025-09-07 19:48:44 +0000 UTCA friend of mine back in my school days was ridiculously good at fighting... and I don't mean throwing his hands up and boxing but just like... knocking people out with lightning speed. I watched him beat the hell out of three dudes who were significantly bigger than he was, alone, and it happened so fast that I almost couldn't believe he'd knocked all three of them out. The fight was over before it really even started. I think for some people, an affinity for fighting is less about skill and more about sheer adrenaline. This friend of mine wasn't a trained fighter at all, but he sure as hell did have a lot of suppressed anger due to his mom being a prostitute and his father being abusive. Whenever we get characters like Levi who are beasts in a fight with little reason or explanation... even though they're obviously fictional, I suspect they're based on someone... maybe someone the author knew in reality... and it reminds me of that friend. I've come to believe that it's just sheer rage being channeled in the "right" way.

He’s seen it countless times, and reacting would only dull his edge and get him killed. That’s exactly what Levi started doing after the Female Titan wiped out his squad. You can also notice how in the OVAs Levi still shows emotion, but as the series progresses his stare becomes more and more blank
