I watched the first season , I really liked it but fell out of it, and I actually began to dislike the show. It didn't help that I don't like Eren and Mikasa, I have a strong dislike for their character types in anime, the hot-headed protag boy and the protective sister who stands by him no matter what, it just didn't vibe with me, okay!! But this didn't stop me from liking the show itself, and it's not like I didn't understand Eren and Mikasa, I'd just roll my eyes sometimes and wish their roles were reversed or that Eren would develop into something else, but that's a me thing. Then when "magic" was introduced (people turning into titans) I was not into that direction, because I felt like it went further from horror and more into action, which worried me cause I didn't want it to become a generic shonen show. I also couldn't get away from annoying fans/memes, and the final nail in the coffin were people claiming the show/author was problematic (for various reasons, a lot of it was unfounded, its all very silly) and my group of friends didn't like it anymore either! So waaaaay later when I was bored I decided to pick it up again and i just kept watching and when it got to these episodes with Ymir (who I LOVE!!!) and the Reiner and Berthold reveal... I was like "Perhaps.. I treated you too harshly...." It had more characters for me to love, the scenes were so intense and full of emotion... The mystery angle was strong... I just kept watching until AoT became my favorite show ever π All this to say these two episodes were the point where I realized I'd done AoT dirty and giving it another go was more than worth it. I have shed SO many tears for this stupid show... and if something gets me to cry I give it a big stamp of approval.

The best part about rewatching this show is that you notice new details every time, and you realize why certain characters react in certain ways to things, once you know all the mysteries that are hidden in plain sight. Everything makes sense and everything is connected, from the very first ep to the last. Also, Erenβs voice actor during his transformation, crazy performance!

2025-08-21 15:02:51 +0000 UTCAnother mystery solved in AOT, and what makes this story one of a kind is it delivers on its mysteries again and again throughout the length of the show and every single time the author has given you enough information to figure it out, and not in a hindsight way I've seen people figure out many of this shows twists including the largest one before they happen, it's one of a kind mystery writing and I haven't seen it in any other story.
