when the manga was drawn, in the first version of the chapters this second episode is about, sasha gets eaten by the "small" titan. the story goes that the editor visited the mangaka in tears begging him to let sasha survive since she was his favorite character

You will hear it quite a bit going further. It means "dedicate your heart" (or offer your heart, both translations are equally correct). Commander Erwin said it to the recruits when they were joining the scouts.

It is a lot heavier on the mystery aspect for sure, so some people that expected action from S1 were a bit shocked when it aired, especially 4 years later. Now in hindsight people love S2 and the opening theme is among the most loved. Sasageyo, sasageyo!
