The Last of Us PC Gameplay Stream 1

Had a bit of extra time earlier and was desperate to give this a go. Was meant to be a bit of a test stream to check my GPU could play the game, stream and locally screen record all at the same time and ended up playing for a bit.

I intend to stream tomorrow (Thursday) for about an hour. Probably around 8pm (BST) on Twitch.

"...and pretend I'm playing..." Zeitgeist type of shade.

Thanks. In the next stream you’ll see I’m using after afterburner OSD to show stats. I’m streaming, playing and locally recording at the same time which is a fair amount. The encoder isn’t being maxed out, neither is the GPU and the CPU sits around 60%. Reviews suggest the game still isn’t that well optimised. I’ve got a rtx4070ti super, 13500, 32gb ram and my gaming drive is a 2TB 990 pro. The vod for last nights stream will be up later. Skip to near the end for when I load up afterburner.

What GPU and CPU do you have? Modern Nvidia RTX GPUs have dedicated hardware encoders (NVENC) that handle streaming separately from the graphics engine so you don't really need to worry about that. Here's a nice guide from Nvidia on how that works and some good settings to use: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/guides/broadcasting-guide/ As for the game not feeling smooth, you might be limited by your CPU more than the GPU. Didn't sound like your GPU was being stressed much from what you were reading off GPU-Z. If you look at the descriptions on each setting it says whether it uses GPU or CPU more. Definitely get a FPS counter to check by changing things, but you can probably turn your resolution back up and be okay. It's been awhile since I've played this, but all the settings on Ultra you should be able to change to High and shouldn't really notice much of a difference (if any) in quality, and turning off motion blur might make the game feel better, especially if you have DLSS or FSR active. The lock on aim is kind of like auto aim but it acts like a magnet towards the center of their body and pulls you towards it more as you get closer, there are settings in the options to adjust how it works. Hope some of that helps. Really enjoyed the stream, looking forward to more!
